Human CXCL1 (C-X-C motif ligand 1; GRO-alpha) is a 73 amino acid ELR+ chemokine that primarily attracts neutrophils to sites of infection or injury by binding to the CXCR2 receptor on their surface. CXCL1 plays a key role in the immune response, particularly in the early stages of inflammation. It is produced by various cell types, including endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and epithelial cells, and is involved in processes such as wound healing, tissue repair, and cancer progression. CXCL1 also binds to the chemokine scavenger receptors ACKR1 and ACKR2.
