Human CCL22 (C-C motif ligand 22; also known as MDC, STCP-1) is a 69-amino-acid CC chemokine expressed by macrophages, dendritic cells, and thymic epithelium. CCL22 binds CCR4 to selectively attract Th2-polarized T cells, regulatory T cells, and CLA+ skin-homing lymphocytes. It also binds ACKR2. CCL22 is implicated in atopic dermatitis, asthma, and tumor immune evasion. These interactions highlight CCL22's role in Th2 immune deviation and skin inflammation.
