Human CCL20 (C-C motif ligand 20; also known as MIP-3α, LARC) is a 70-amino-acid CC chemokine expressed in skin, lung, and gut epithelium, and induced by inflammatory cytokines. CCL20 binds CCR6 to attract immature dendritic cells, effector/memory T cells, and B cells to mucosal and skin sites. It also binds ACKR4 and ACKR5. CCL20 is critical for mucosal immunity, psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease. These interactions highlight CCL20's role in epithelial-immune crosstalk.
