Description: Human CCL2, also designated Monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1), Monocyte chemotactic and activating factor (MCAF) and JE, chemoattracts mononuclear cells through activation of the G protein-coupled receptor CCR2. The N-terminal glutamine of CCL2 undergoes post-translational modification to pyroglutamic acid. Macrophages and monocytes are the primary producers of CCL2.
