Human CCL17 (C-C motif ligand 17; also known as TARC) is a 71-amino-acid CC chemokine constitutively expressed in thymus and induced in monocytes and dendritic cells by IL-4/IL-13. CCL17 binds CCR4 and CCR8 to selectively attract Th2-polarized T cells, regulatory T cells, and CLA+ skin-homing lymphocytes. It also binds ACKR2 and ACKR5. CCL17 is a key mediator in atopic dermatitis, asthma, and allergic inflammation. These interactions highlight CCL17's role in Th2 immune deviation and skin immunity.
