Recombinant human CXCL14 protein is secreted from cells after cleavage of the signal peptide to yield a 77 residue polypeptide. Human CXCL14, also know as breast and kidney expressed chemokine or BRAK is an orphaned ligand constitutively produced in many normal tissues but is reduced or absent in most cancer cells. CXCL14 is chemotactic for monocytes in the presence of prostaglandin-E2, an attractor and activator of dendritic cells, and chemoattractant for activated NK cells.
